Colt 1991A1 Combat Commander .45ACP
The Colt 1991 Series is a direct descendant of the original Colt M1911. A long trigger, flat mainspring housing and original style recoil spring system remain from the original M1911 design. Upgrades from the original include white dot sights and a lowered ejection port for extra reliability. It still remains "the standard" that everyone tries to imitate, but no one duplicates.

User Review
Big RickWhere to start when sharing the impressions of an American icon.
The 1911 is, at the very start, as American as apple pie, baseball, the 55 Chevy, the Mustang, or a Corvette.
For a 1911 to be a Colt 1911, it is even moreso.
Enter the 1991A1. Consider it an upgrade to a historic design. Improved sights, improved reliability, and absolute deadly accuracy.
I dont consider myself an expert shot by any stretch of the imagination. The first trip out to the range with the Colt certainly made me LOOK like one. The first mag I shot through it left me with a string of touching holes that slowly moved across the bullseye as I found my optimal finger position on the trigger.
Each squeeze of the trigger gave a rewarding and satisfying "boom" as the pleasant shooting 45ACP punched a hole where I had focuses my attention. This gun is, by far, the most accurate I have ever owned or fired. I realize that many would protest and bring up their better results with a high end 1911 and I am the last one who would disagree with their experience, but in this review we are talking about my experiences and I have never had a better one when it comes to firearms.
During my period of ownership the 1991 never malfunctioned. Not even on single time. Not even when shooting cheap target ammo. It showed itself to be as reliable as any Glock (I say that as Glock fan and a Glock serves as my daily carry gun).
The time spent with this gun left me with only one regret. That is no fault of the gun but a fault of mine. It is just too big and heavy for me as a daily carry gun. Perhaps if I could carry it on a duty belt it would have been more suitable, but I know me. If the gun is too inconvenient, too heavy, and too uncomfortable I wont carry it as routinely as I should.
But for a pleasant day at the range and for a gun to make you look, and more importantly, FEEL better than your skills may merit, do yourself a favor and consider adding one of these to your collection of range guns.
